Florida Watermelon Association Queen Program
The Florida Watermelon Queen Scholarship program was established in 1968 to assist the association in promotional efforts. The FWA Queen helps boost sales of Florida grown watermelon by engaging the public at numerous events, from grocery stores to schools to Nascar races. The Florida Watermelon Queen competes annually for the National Watermelon Queen title at the National Watermelon Association Annual Convention.
Alyssa Marie Armentrout was crowned the 2023 Florida Watermelon Queen on November 3, 2022 at the Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida. Queen Alyssa is the daughter of Johnathon and Amanda Armentrout of Sebring, Florida. Alyssa is a graduate of Southeastern University where she majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Theology. Alyssa is the historian of the Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society of Southeastern University and a former collegiate cheerleader. Alyssa is an assistant cheerleader coach and enjoys exploring creative avenues such as crafting. She also enjoys golfing, going to the gym, finding a new favorite book, and learning new recipes to try out. As the 2023 Florida Watermelon Queen, Alyssa will travel throughout the United States serving as the spokesperson for the Florida watermelon industry. In February 2024, she will represent her home state of Florida and compete for the title of National Watermelon Queen in Scottsdale Arizona. |
