Keeping Up With the FWA Queen

The 2024 Florida Watermelon Queen has been busy with some great promotions! 

Since the beginning of April, Queen Elanie has been nonstop attending promotions on behalf of the Florida Watermelon Association.

Elanie is doing a wonderful job representing the FWA as she continues graduate school at the University of Florida, where she is majoring in Agriculture Education and Communication.

Below are some of the promotions. 

• Visited farmers out in the field
• Visited watermelon packing sheds
• Visited Labelle Plant World
• Attended the USA Beach Championship 10k race
• Participated in school promotions
• Attended the Cooper River Run in Charleston, SC
• Participated in queen training hosted by the National Watermelon Promotion Board
• Attended lots of sporting events at the University of Florida
• Spent a day in the field looking at watermelon trials with Enza Zaden
• Emceed the Desoto Watermelon Pageant
• Attended the Florida Children Museum's 2nd Annual Watermelon Festival
• Spent a day with Chef Justin with Fresh From Florida filming watermelon recipes
• Taping gas station commercial promotions for GSTV
• Joined our favorite NASCAR driver, Ross Chastain in the Winner's Circle at Darlington
• Taping in the field with Chef Justin and Ross Chastain
• Publix in-store promotions 

Queen Elanie will be headed to North Florida in the coming months to visit our North Florida watermelon farmers and participate in more promotions. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see our events.
