A Message from the 2024 FWA Queen

Hello watermelon growers and enthusiasts! I am thrilled to serve as the 2024 Florida Watermelon Queen! I must say, this is a one in a melon opportunity! My name is Elanie Mason and I am currently a student at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences College of Agricultural and Life Sciences! I am a 2023 graduate and current Master’s student in Agricultural Education and Communication.

I am excited to share my passion for the Florida Watermelon industry with every consumer I come in contact with and I thank you for giving me an amazing platform to promote watermelon on. I thank the Lord for blessing me with this opportunity and blessing me with the chance to meet some of the kindest, generous and welcoming individuals that make up this industry.

I believe God has provided me with past experiences, communication and professional skills that will allow me to be an effective advocate for our watermelon industry that provides fruitfully and joyfully for the masses!

I want to thank you all for allowing me to represent you this year and I would be remiss if I did not share my deep appreciation for each and every watermelon farmer. It's because of you we are able to provide quality watermelon for our consumers. Your hard work, dedication and perseverance is second to none and I cannot thank you enough.
